Study Spotter's purpose and features will be discussed below.

  1. Describe the problem that you have identified that you would like to work on.

FSU is a large university with a lot of places for students to study. We have identified that students on FSU’s campus may not be aware of all the study spaces that are available to them. They also may have difficulty navigating to the proper website to reserve a study room in one of the libraries. We aim to make it easier for students to find a study spot that suits their needs whether that is collaborating in a study room, or finding a quiet nook.

  1. Imagine what you would build (a website? an app? an online service?) that could address the problem you described above.

We will be building a mobile app that will allow all students to reserve a study room in one of the libraries on campus. This app will also serve as a study space finder for the lesser known spots on campus. The app will allow users to rate the study spot based on different factors like noise, comfortability, space, capacity, crowds, etc.

  1. Complete a version of the product scope and value proposition exercises (from week four class sessions) on the imagined product or service.

Must Haves

Study Spotter will include several paramount features to provide the user with the best experience. Firstly, to further help students select the perfect study spot for themselves, a rating and review system will be implemented for students to share feedback on the different study spots found. The app will also feature a real-time availability portion, so students who have not reserved a spot can see what potential openings there are in the area. Study Spotter will also showcase the different locations of study spots such as dorm rooms, libraries, and other academic buildings with ideal study spots. Lastly, the app will show the time remaining on a study spot booking, allowing students to plan their studying around whether or not their ideal study spot is open.

Performance Benefits

Some of the performance benefits we plan to implement are: The ability to sort and filter rooms by noise level, space, etc A user - friendly interface that is accessible to all students including those with disabilities. Features, such as reminders and alerts for available spaces, keep users informed and organized, enhancing their experience and  a dynamic filtering mechanism that sorts the spaces by amenities and location to better suit the student.

Delighters

As for something to make Study Spotter stand out amongst competitors, we pondered a few ideas that would make the app attract the right attention. The first idea would be being able to invite others through a push notification to fill a specific study space. Additionally we will add a maximum and minimum allotted time allowed for a specific study space to be occupied. As well as a 3D map layout of the desired study room to give a complete view of the surroundings is also something we are looking into developing in further updates. Also we would like to consider adding the modification of changing the color scheme to the app itself to give the consumer power over the aesthetics of the app.

  1. Define your project role (ex, programmer, developer....)

Project Manager, Developer, Quality Assurance - Mya Wrisper

The project manager must be very organized and manage the timeline to ensure that tasks are being completed on time. They must be able to effectively communicate with other group members. They must also fully understand the project well enough to assist other group members.

Developers will possess a strong understanding of the software used for the app and will be able to translate the customers needs directly to the product. They will form comprehensive plans for debugging and any other technical issues during the development lifecycle. Having developers is crucial in ensuring the project progresses smoothly from development to launch.

We will have a quality assurance as a role to test out if everything works properly. The quality assurance specialist will also conduct various types of research to make improvements on the app throughout the development of the app.
